The week’s most pressing theme is communication. Information. Messages and their delivery. Our attention and where we place it. With Mercury making a conjunction to Saturn, as it stations retrograde, during a week with a full moon in Gemini (one of the signs Mercury rules) that is in an exact square to Neptune, we can be sure that we are going to get some things wrong.
Rightly so, though. These are days where misunderstandings are perfect pathways into deeper knowing.
On Monday, Mercury conjuncts Saturn amplifying post-holiday/post-weekend blues and highlighting what exactly obstructs our path. This may be a thought pattern or situation that doesn’t seem to budge but, no matter what is slowing us down, the trick with Saturn is to do the best job we can no matter how we feel. This transit is a meditation. If Saturn is going to impede our speed, we might as well take the opportunity to observe our experience. Saturn teaches us that having boundaries is necessary if we are ever to experience more than just our immediate emotional response.
Boundaries breed perspective.
By Friday, Venus joins both Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius. There until December 24th, Venus finds pleasure in the quest. Venus in Sagittarius loves far and wide. Loves with greater ease the more room it is given. Loves with the urgency of a traveler that might not see you again.
Venus is gracing Sagittarius’s spaces with some of its much needed sweetness. While Mercury and Saturn here set up some difficulties for us, Venus assists when and where it can. This creates a mixed situation for us to sort through in the area of our chart that contains Sagittarius. With both the heavy burden of responsibility and the pleasure that can come when we seek to be in relationship with a deeper understanding of our duties, the area of our chart that contains Sagittarius has much to teach us in the coming month.
On the same day as Venus’s entrance into a new sign, Mars in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries. Mars is the last of a series of planets moving through Libra and opposing Uranus for some time. Mars in opposition to Uranus is an incredibly disruptive, distracting, disturbing-the-peace kind of moment in the week. One that will be felt on the days leading up to it and the days after it. This transit is bound to add shock waves to Mercury’s already confusing twists and turns. Waves that lead us into the weekend’s intriguing waters of Jupiter’s trine to Neptune, Mercury’s consequential station retrograde, and the dreamy and deluded full moon in Gemini square Neptune.
This is a weekend where folks will want to reach for the ideal scenario. A weekend that can remind us of the exquisite importance of optimism. A weekend that makes known the consequences of mistaking a mirage for a final destination.
As Jupiter trines Neptune (the first of three transits between these two over the course of the next year) the urge to connect is magnified. These two together want to bring out the best of our human hearts. They want to elevate our minds to places where we might remember how incredible a gift it is to make even the smallest acts of kindness central to our everyday life. They want to bring us back to the importance of striving for some larger understanding of our little human life and extending that out to all we come in contact with.
It’s a high worth riding.
But steady on. Mercury’s station retrograde is right around the corner. In a sign in which Mercury struggles a great deal, sitting next to Saturn, Mercury’s last retrograde of the year is one that is defining. Lining up with a time when we are naturally looking back on the year past, this review is an important one. This is the end of Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius. These two come together twice over the next three weeks delivering important messages about Saturn’s time here. Since it will be another 30 years before Saturn re-enters Sagittarius, it’s a bitter sweet goodbye. Whatever we have been able to define, dedicate and get serious about in this area of our lives will serve us for the next 3 decades to come.
Come the very end of the week, Neptune plays tricks with the sun and moon. Squaring them both during the full moon, Neptune will make us parse out which situations inspire us to new heights and which leave us too intoxicated to pick ourselves up the next day.
Keep as grounded as you can.
Your weekly horoscopes are meant to be read as inspiration. If you know both your rising sign and sun sign, please read both horoscopes. They both contain important information. You’ll know which resonates more for you from week to week. Take what works for you, leave the rest. If you find inspiration here we love and appreciate donations. If you want to share this work you must quote it and link it to this post and website. Thank you for your support and for spreading the work around, we really appreciate it and you!
So rarely is our path straightforward. So infrequently do our most important life lessons make sense in the moment. So seldom do we trust that the chaos we encounter has a purpose.
Faith isn’t free. We have to work for it. With it. We have to try our best to understand that sometimes the most painful lessons are so excruciating because of how tightly we are holding onto an idea of how it should work out.
As Mercury retrogrades through the part of your chart that helps you make meaning, you’ll be asked to give in to the oddly beautiful life lessons that you are, and have been, faced with. The less you cling to ideas of what you should be doing at this point in your life, the more room you’ll have to witness the importance of the process that you are in. The more you focus on the next small move, the less important the daunting nature of your route.
As the full moon peaks, some communication helps you to open up and understand a relationship dynamic in a new way. The messages might be unclear from the sender, but that in and of itself is a ton of information.
The most important thing to do right now is to be clear with yourself. Clear about what you deserve. What boundaries you are committed to keeping. What beauty you are dedicated to witnessing within yourself. And most importantly, clear about the path you are on and why you are on it. These next few weeks reveal the roadblocks along your journey, but they also reveal the importance of them. What they are teaching you. What you are developing as a result. What you are now much better at understanding, gleaning meaning from and not taking personally.

Defining our emotional boundaries is a nuanced and tricky business. It depends greatly on trial, error, and our ability to learn from both. Some days it feels easy to call it what it is. Some days it feels impossible to. Some days we might be unsure about when our emotional baggage is getting in the way and when it’s another person being some kind of way that we can’t follow along with.
Sometimes we know what to do in the moment. Sometimes we need time to parse out the personal from the situational.
Over the next month, Mercury’s retrograde will have you in an in-depth review about what happens when you take too much on, what goes on when you put too much out and how, where and when to strike a balance.
Being able to know when and what to invest in will help your reserves overflow with the bounty that is yours to share far and wide.
Sunday’s full moon illuminates financial issues. Bills you may have missed. Payments you didn’t know where passed due. Expenses, both material and energetic, that you may not have budgeted for. Keep a little extra coin in your pockets. It’s not just the moon that’s messing with your bank books. Since Mercury rules this part of your chart, its retrograde is also fiscally frisky.

Mercury makes your words land heavier than usual this week. Weigh them accordingly. If it doesn’t need to be said and it’s potentially going to be more problematic than prosperous, let it rest. If you aren’t sure about it and it doesn’t need to be emphasized, keep it. If you know it will only cause issues for you or the people you spill to, sit with it.
This isn’t the season to meddle. Leave well enough alone.
However, thanks to the full moon in your sign, this week brings up lessons about your sense of self in relationship to everyone else that are incredibly important to ponder and pay attention to. Where do you tend to diminish yourself? Hide your glory? Dismiss your own desires? Where do you tend to forget about the needs of your partners? Flake on your promises? Flee when the pain feels too much? Where do you find a balance between meeting yourself and everyone else? Spend time expanding into these spaces.
Notice the relationships that, over the course of the last three years, have offered you a place to find yourself within. Solid walls. Fertile soil. Warm hearths. What have they taught you about your truth? How to hold it? Walk with it? Center it in all you do? These coming weeks ask you to keep true to the lessons your loves and partners have helped you harness.

Comfort is key for creatures like you. What is soothing is sacred. What is disruptive, unholy. What keeps you from your calm is a constant thorn in your side.
This week may present a prickly issue. One that isn’t at all new, but one that connects to your core issues and concerns. It’s about what keeps you from feeling at peace. What pokes around the places you’d rather have left alone. What discomfort spurs you into action.
Move towards what reminds you to stay grounded in yourself.
As Mercury’s retrograde and the full moon in Gemini will make clear, all you can do is what is in front of you. The rest is out of your control. The rest is about working on what you can when you can. Restorative rest is important if you are to enjoy what you accomplish.
The full moon is asking you to take some time out of your busy schedule if possible. It’s asking you to pay attention to any anxieties, fears and phobias that arise. It’s letting you know that the root of these ailments is far more important to pay attention to than the symptoms. The cure is in your ability to harness the power of affirming routines. Whatever helps you feel clear-headed, heart centered and open to understanding what is disturbing your equilibrium and why, is what you need to spend your days dedicated to. Allot some time to practicing the meditations that keep you grounded in the sacred nature of the mundane.

This week’s Mercury retrograde/full moon combination stretches out across the part of your chart that has to do with what you desire to create and who is on the receiving end of it. What you love and whom you share it with. What you wish to make come true and who is there in support of your deepest desires, dreams and hopes for the future.
As Mercury spends the next few weeks retrograde, it does so through the part of your chart that deals with your creative energy, children and all pursuits of love and pleasure. It reviews all of the deadlines, obstacles and opportunities you have faced in these areas over the past couple of years. It asks you if you have been able to learn how to love what you’ve brought into form and, if not, what final tweaks, edits and reshaping are needed. To it or to your judgement of it.
We can’t change what has occurred, but our relationship to it changes as we heal. Take note of what you have had to struggle with and ultimately learn how to appreciate, integrate and acknowledge as a teacher.
As the full moon blooms, it sheds light on your networks. You might notice that some relationships are going through their own review process. Don’t be overly committed to impressing any one audience in particular. As your relationship to your creations changes, so too will the groups you align yourself with.

The burdens of your past need not hinder your present. They can inform this moment. Deepen your appreciation of it. Sturdy your resolve to succeed where and when you can. But nothing that you have done previously dictates your abilities currently.
You are not your past mistakes. Miscalculations. Misunderstandings.
This week, as Mercury stations retrograde you are offered a deeper understanding of this. Your past is a tremendous resource to draw from, but it is no place to stay stuck in.
A seed must leave its former shape to discover the exquisite beauty of its leaves.
This weekend’s full moon draws forth your inner potential. It shines brightly in the most obvious part of your chart. It illuminates your career goals, gifts and gains. It highlights what you get right and what you still seem to get caught up in.
Don’t let the ghosts of years past drift around in vain. Name them. Claim them. Call them what they are. The more you acknowledge what your past has taught you, the more you’ll be able to see the incredible wealth it is, and the more you’ll be able to see your difficulties as incredible layers of wisdom that lie within you.

Remain more interested in what the disruptions are teaching you about yourself, than the fact that they are such a pain in your ass. What throws a curve ball at you is annoying, yes, but there’s something deeper that this life circumstance is trying to get to. Something just below the surface of your anger, upset or agitation is trying to get your attention.
Listen.
These sentiments are important. They want to teach you something that normally can’t get through. Something that you miss when things go smoothly. Whatever demands that we stretch ourselves offers us the opportunity to discover the potential in us that otherwise lies dormant.
Discover what you are capable of in the chaos and the comforts of life.
This week Mercury retrograde and the full moon feel out ways in which to draw your attention to the short term action plans and long-term goals you’ve got on your radar. Some of these plans will stand the storms of this cosmic weather and some will blow away with the winds of change. None of this will become entirely clear until the beginning of next year. These days will unravel what isn’t meant to make it to 2018.
Fear not.
Editing is a skill that is neither for the faint-of-heart nor the overly sentimental. Success requires that we become incredibly adept at letting go of what might be beautiful, but not meant for this time, place or particular scene. Don’t be afraid to remove from your grand plan what you thought was a no brainer. Trust that there is more waiting for you than you can imagine at the moment and be open to making room for it with great gratitude.

Amidst a wily week, you have a special blessing. Given the good graces of Jupiter’s trine to Neptune, you are more prone than most to enjoy the chaos of these cosmic patterns. Harness the gifts by giving in to your urges to give. To connect. To feel the fullness and sweetness of generosity. Because Mercury’s conjunction to Saturn may have you thinking that there is less available to you than there is, combat the sentiment by paying for a stranger’s coffee. Giving something to someone that needs it. Letting compliments fall out of your mouth as often as exhales.
This weekend’s Mercury retrograde/full moon combination has you looking at the measurements of your sales and savings. Your intake and output. The rules and guidelines that govern your finances and feelings of worthiness. This next month is an invitation to clear out your financial closets. Sort through your receipts. Pay a visit to your bookkeeper, resource development experts or priestesses of profit management. This is a time to get better acquainted with all you have to work with, how you are working with it and what you’d like to be able to create as you move forward. Remember that gratitude and generosity are your guiding goddesses towards a greater sense of abundance. Go forward accordingly.

Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
Love will always teach us our greatest lessons. Love will always pull from us our best. Love will always lead us to our greatest accomplishments. Sunday’s full moon brings these lessons into focus. It reveals the importance of building your relationships upon solid ground.
Slowly.
Saturn will always teach us the importance of taking our time. The importance of layering the lessons that we are learning. The importance of going over things again, and again, and again. Since Saturn is finishing up its time in Sagittarius, not to return for another 30 years, while Mercury is stationing retrograde beside it, you are given the gift of reviewing the lessons you have learned about patience. Persistence. Perseverance.
What was an insurmountable burden three years ago is (hopefully) now a lesson in resilience that you will draw from for decades to come. Appreciate the time it has taken to move the mountains that you have. A few years might be nothing in the span of a life, but emotional, spiritual and energetic time works in its own way.
Time is not only length but depth.
The deeper you have let yourself go over these years, the further you have or will be able to grow in the opposite direction come the next few. Let Mercury’s last retrograde of the year remind you of the depth of resolve you have been able to acquire through some of the toughest lessons of your life.

Mercury’s upcoming retrograde asks you to witness how much psychic debris you’ve been able to clear out over the past 3 years. It asks you to reflect upon the growth that you have made because of all you have been able to let go of. It asks what self sabotaging strategies still linger for you to learn from.
No insight is ever wasted when we engage in a deeper understanding of ourselves.
Whether we find beauty or beasts within, it all adds up to knowledge for us to use. The more you work on accepting what you find over the next month, the more power you’ll have to chose how to use it. Though this week might make for some moody days, especially in regards to issues that come up for you at work, remember that this isn’t a time where things are supposed to feel neat and tidy.
Sunday’s full moon sheds light on your routines, work projects and health matters. The success of all three are connected to your ability to make use of what you experience in your moments of solitude and surrender. The world needs your depth. It needs your ability to reflect. It needs whatever meditations you can give it. Remember that time spent developing your self is never counter to professional production. It is the foundation of it.

Mercury’s station retrograde and the full moon both spin tales of creating a dream team of support for yourself. Whomever you’ve been able to learn boundaries from over the past couple of years is a teacher worth thanking. Worth taking note of. Worth taking for anything but granted.
While these lessons still swirl around you, asking for your review, you’ll notice that some of the best teachers act out in ways that illustrate what not to do. While you may feel like your social life has already been stripped down to bare bones, these next couple of weeks might come bearing the news of more cut backs.
The nature of your social sphere is still being reset.
Remind yourself that you are not alone, you just might be experiencing the moment that occurs right before new folks find their way into your life. This situation is temporary, but extremely important. Even if you have been separated from folks for no other reason save distance, this time has been an important component of your development. A teacher that has asked you to realign yourself with the communities that are better suited to you fulfilling your dreams.

Sunday’s full moon highlights both the family narratives that nourish you, and the family stories that strip you of a part of your power. The former are always important to stock up on, while the latter remain imperative to understand if we ever want to move past them.
The full moon points towards the ways in which you may have been taught to get your needs met by hiding your strengths. Pretending you aren’t as capable as you are. Colluding with what keeps you adjacent to your agency.
Realign yourself with the truth.
As Mercury begins its three week retrograde through the part of your chart that demands nothing less than the highest professionalism you can put forth, you need to remember who you are and what you are capable of.
Gather images of those that have gone before you.
Surround yourself with a vast amount of symbolic support. Who has done what you want to? Who has done what they have wanted to in a way that speaks to your spirit? Who has thrown the rules away and run against the grain of their past towards the glory of their potential? Follow their story. Follow their plot line to get ideas about your own. Keep your character in tact by choosing what is difficult but necessary for you to do. As Mercury’s review will prove, you can course correct at any time, but if you don’t take the wheel, you’ll end up driven towards what you are told to reach for, not for what your heart yearns for.
